Learn about the different areas of the world and their characteristics.
Learning about geography helps children to develop an understanding of the layout of places within the UK and the world. Maps and their interpretation help children to understand about where they are and what they are surrounded by. This gives them a sense of location. Games that encourage children to use maps to help other people by, for instance, giving directions develop their spatial skills. Learning about geography through games can also enhance children’s understanding of how changes to the environment occur and how they affect people. Children learn about climate change, food, water and energy. They learn about different parts of the world, country and place names and develop geographical skills which allow them to successfully engage with the world.
